Police: Baseball bats, knives, bricks involved in family ‘feud’

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — At least one person was injured and another was arrested after a brawl on Wisdom Avenue in Providence on Tuesday night.

Police responded to the area just before 7:30 p.m. after getting a report that a large group of people were fighting in the street with multiple weapons.

According to a police report obtained by NewsNation affiliate WPRI, the fight may have stemmed from “an ongoing feud between families.” Police said the street brawl involved baseball bats, bricks and knives.

Witnesses told police one of the suspects had even pointed a firearm at a juvenile during the fight. Additionally, video reviewed by detectives on scene led them to arrest at least one person who appeared to run toward people with a baseball bat.

Police said at least one person was taken to the hospital, but others refused treatment.

A car also had minor damage from a brick.
