Road closures scheduled in Provo, Sandy for Salt Lake Criterium cycling event

PROVO, Utah ( ABC4 ) — Road closures have been scheduled in Downtown Provo and Sandy ahead of the Salt Lake Criterium’s annual cycling event.

Closures will take place July 6 – July 7 for Utah’s cycling street party event, according to a press release. Local residents, businesses, and visitors are asked to plan accordingly.

Downtown Provo

Day one of the event will take place in Downtown Provo. Road closures include the intersections of Center Street and 400 West, 400 West and 100 North, 100 North and 300 West, 100 North and Freedom Boulevard (200 West), Freedom Boulevard (200 West) and Center Street, Freedom Boulevard (200 West) and 100 South, and 100 South and 300 West.

These closures will take place 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. on July 6. The first race will begin at 12 p.m. and awards will be presented at 8:45 p.m.

To get to the event, take I-15 south and use the Provo Center Street Exit, following Center Street to the course. Parking is available at City Hall. The start/finish line and expo area will be located at Center Street and Freedom Boulevard (200 West).

America First Field

Road closures will include southbound State Street from Stadium Way to 9400 South, 9400 South and Rimando Way, and Rimando Way and Stadium Way.

These closures will take place 6 a.m. – 5 p.m. on July 7. The first race will begin at 8 a.m. and awards will be presented at 4:45 p.m.

To get to the event, head to the America First Stadium, located on State Street between 9000 South and 9400 South. Use I-15 and take the exit for 9000 South, then turn east on 9000 South. Parking will be available in the event parking lots. The start/finish line and expo area will be on Stadium Way.

Detour route signs will reportedly be posted, and staff will be helping with traffic flow and pedestrian safety. Access for emergency vehicles will be allowed at all times.
