Soldotna beer fest gives back
Nearly 100 beer connoisseurs braved the rain and cold Saturday in the parking lot of the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex to celebrate the diversity of Alaska-brewed beer. While some patrons stood under tents and chatted with bartenders, others danced to live music in raincoats and 6-ounce beer glasses in hand.

Iconic KYUK tower comes down after 5 decades of service
A prominent feature of the Bethel skyline has been retired after roughly 50 years of service. KYUK’s iconic orange and white communications tower was originally intended to beam television programming, including local TV news, educational productions, and popular programs like Sesame Street, locally since at least as early as 1975. Nearly 400 people turned out for a 5K run and walk to raise awareness about Alaska’s missing and murdered Indigenous people in Anchorage on Saturday. Health center offering free vaccines ahead of school year
The Cordova Public Health Center announced it would be offering a free back-to-school vaccine clinic next week for kids gearing up for the fall semester. Building at center of Eielson Street fire ‘a total loss,” fire chief says
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - A structure fire at an abandoned house on Eielson Street in Fairbanks led occupants of a neighboring home to evacuate Saturday morning. “There weren’t any injuries or casualties, but the one building was a total loss, and the secondary building did sustain some fire damage from that initial fire,” Fairbanks Fire Department Fire Chief Andrew Coccaro said.
