I had a boyfriend who insisted on always being around me. We were together for four years. He would never give me time alone. I am the sort of person who needs time alone, and I especially needed it because this boyfriend stifled me. I eventually begged him to give me time alone, but he refused to do it. I knew the relationship had to end when during an argument about this I locked myself in the bathroom to get away from him. There was a space at the bottom of the door where the door didn’t reach the floor. It was a very small space. This man lay on the floor and placed his face against the space, sobbing and begging me to come out of the bathroom. He was 35 years old. I couldn’t stand him anymore and, as soon as I came out of the bathroom, I told him our relationship was over. I went out to my car and drove away. He followed me home and screamed and sobbed so loudly that the neighbors called the police. I never saw him again. . . thank God.
