SF Pride signifies time of celebration, political importance for community this year
The Pride Parade is one of the marquee events of Pride weekend in San Francisco. 4th of July parade held at San Francisco's Great Highway for 1st time in decades
A revived San Francisco tradition.People in the Sunset District marched down the Great Highway on Saturday for the inaugural "Oceanside Fourth of July Parade."It's been decades since the city had a July 4th parade.Two bands, 25 dancers as well as several parents and kids took part.RELATED: Inside effort to bring Fourth of July parade back to San Francisco for first time in decadesSupervisor Joel Engardio organized the event because he says it is time the City had its own Fourth of July parade."An event like this tells the world, we are not a doom loop. It tells the world that we have a lot of joy, and we are creating more of it. And, we are imaginative or innovative, and we are going to create our best San Francisco," Engardio said.Organizers had the parade on June 29 to make sure people who already made holiday plans could attend.The supervisor says the plan is to have this on July 4th, next year. Amber Alert canceled for 14-day-old baby allegedly abducted in Solano Co., authorities say

The Supreme Court is clearing the way for cities to enforce bans on unhoused people sleeping outdoors, even in the Bay Area where shelter space is limited.The high court ruled in favor of Grants Pass, Oregon Friday, and its ban on sleeping in public. Powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake strikes southern Peru early Friday
A magnitude 7.2 earthquake shook the southern coast of Peru early Friday. Authorities say there are no immediate reports of casualties.The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake occurred at 12:36 a.m. (0536 GMT). The epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean, some 5 miles (8 kilometers) west of the district of Atiquipa, in the province of Caravelí. That is some 380 miles south of the capital, Lima, near the borders with Chile and Bolivia. The depth was 17 miles (28 kilometers).The earthquake was felt in the nearby regions of Ayacucho, Ica, and the capital, local media reported. Eder Allca, the mayor of the district of Sancos, in the Ayacucho region, told the local radio station RPP that a road in his district suffered rock slides that left several localities cut off.The Hydrography and Navigation Directorate of the Peruvian Navy reported that the seismic event generated a tsunami alert along the Peruvian coast.
