(PUEBLO, Colo.) — Pueblo Water is warning the public about increased water flow on the Arkansas River and is asking visitors to avoid the Waterworks Park area as runoff season begins.

According to Pueblo Water, Colorado’s runoff—when snowpack in the Rocky Mountains begins to melt and increases water levels in rivers—begins soon and could last several weeks or longer.

Pueblo Water is asking the public to avoid the area of Waterworks Park between Pueblo Boulevard and Wild Horse Creek just north of City Park as construction is ongoing. The park is not expected to be completed until the Fall of 2024, and according to Pueblo Water, there are hazards in the water, especially during runoff season.

Pueblo Water expects runoff season to last three weeks or more.
