Fair invites artisans of every stripe to submit entries

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The 152nd Colorado State Fair is calling for entries in the General Entry , Fine Arts , and Special Contests categories. These categories can include artisans, photographers, winemakers, gardeners, inventors, quilters, bakers, poets, and many other talents and hobbies.

The Colorado State Fair has many types of contests, including livestock and small animal competitions, 4-H events, and horse competitions.

Other contests include arts, crafts, and kitchen contests. The Fine Arts Competition , which is one of the longest-running at the fair, has eight categories in both 2D and 3D art. Pantry Competitions for cakes, candies, breads, pickles, preserves, etc. can earn competitors titles like “Royalty of the Kitchen” or “Youth Kitchen Royalty” (for those 9 and under).

In the Farm and Garden contests, growers can show off the best of their crops, or the oddest, such as “Most Misshapen Fruit” or “Oddest Vegetable”. Other special categories include the Funniest Pet Photo competition and the Pet Rock competition. Home bakers will be judged on the beauty and deliciousness of their desserts.

Finally, local artists can submit art for the Commemorative Poster Competition for the 2025 Colorado State Fair. The winning poster will receive $1,500 in prize money and the State Fair will purchase the artwork for $500. The top three posters will be displayed at the 2025 State Fair.

Coloradans can submit their creations online, or at the general entry office which is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from June 10 to July 17, 2024. Experts in each category will judge the items submitted. Winners will be revealed on the first day of the Fair.
