Six of the top 75 cities for fatal drunk driving accidents are located in Colorado, according to data from the NHTSA Fatality and Injury Reporting System Tool, including one city that's the 3rd-ranking spot nationwide.

A data analysis published by Van Der Veen, Hartshorn, Levin & Lindheim law firm took a look at data from the 300 most-populated cities in the US from 2018 to 2022, focusing on how many fatal drunk driving accidents occurred per 100,000 residents.

While Odessa, Texas topped the list with 27.46 fatal drunk driving accidents per 100,000, Colorado's city of Pueblo ranked third overall, with 17.94 fatal drunk driving accidents per 100,000. Of the 20 fatal accidents involving a drunk driver that took place in Pueblo over the aforementioned time span, the driver's blood alcohol content was over 0.15 in 17 of those cases with 0.08 being the threshold for impairment.

Meanwhile, Colorado Springs ranked 24th with a rate of 10.49 accidents per 100,000, Aurora ranked 28th with a rate of 9.91, Lakewood ranked 31st with a rate of 9.61, Thornton ranked 46th with a rate of 8.38, and Denver ranked 49th with a rate of 7.99.
