Detectives with the Pueblo Police Department’s crimes against persons unit continue to investigate the homicide, in which a woman was shot and killed near the intersection of Portland Avenue and Ash Street on the East Side.

The victim has not yet been publicly identified by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office.

Through their investigation, police obtained footage of the alleged suspect vehicle, which they say was also involved in a drive-by shooting near 13th and West streets “just minutes after the homicide.”

It's unclear whether anyone was struck or injured during the drive-by shooting. Pueblo police did not immediately respond to a request for additional information on Wednesday.

Police were first called to the 200 block of South Portland Avenue at approximately 12:35 a.m. on June 27 after the department’s ShotSpotter system reported shots fired.

A short time later, police received information that a victim of the shooting was at the intersection of East Fifth Street at Reading Avenue, approximately five blocks from the shooting.

Police found the woman near the intersection with a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital.

The woman’s death marked Pueblo’s 13th homicide of 2024. The city has now recorded 14 homicides this year after another woman was shot and killed in a separate incident on Friday.

Pueblo police are asking anyone with information on the suspect vehicle or the June 27 homicide to contact Pueblo PD dispatch at 719-553-2502, or Detective Ryan Torres at 719-320-6037.

To remain anonymous, contact Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP (719-542-7867), or pueblocrimestoppers.com. Information that leads to felony arrest could qualify its submitting party for a cash reward.
