The mural, which stretches roughly three city blocks and depicts the cultural history of one of Pueblo’s oldest neighborhoods, was partially designed and painted by students growing up on the East Side and surrounding areas.

“The City of Pueblo is excited to see the historic mural at Mitchell Park unveiled on Saturday, July 13,” said Director of Pueblo Parks and Recreation Steven Meier. “This project was funded through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars and shows great partnership with the community, Eric Sarracino as an artist, and by engaging with the youth of Pueblo. The historical depiction of this mural gives credit to those before us and creates a legacy for generations to come.”

Saturday’s event will feature speakers and attendees including:

    • Heather Graham, Mayor of Pueblo
    • Charlene Garcia Simms, Pueblo Historian and Author
    • Eric Sarracino, Artist and Chief Designer
    • Dr. Velia Venegas Rincon, Community Advocate
    • Tonio LeFebre, Native American Artist & Linguist
    • Steve Lucero, Activist
    • Local bands, DJs, and performers

The event will be held at Mitchell Park at 1304 East 12th Street and starts at noon on Saturday.
