Catching up with NFL Super Bowl Champion, former CSU Pueblo ThunderWolf Ryan Jensen

Former NFL Super Bowl Champion and CSU Pueblo alumni Ryan Jensen retired from the NFL this past year.

He has been staying busy since then, getting a construction business off the ground and keeping up some appearances at youth football camps here in Pueblo.

“I retired about three and a half months ago, four months ago now and it feels good,” Jensen said. “It's a little weird with training camp coming up and not getting ready to go put my body through all that again.”

Even though he is retired from football, Jensen is still staying active at his young age.

“I’ve got a construction business that we're running and starting to get out here in the Colorado area, so, it's been fun,” Jensen said. “It's giving me something to do keeping my mind busy and keeping that competitiveness going.”

Despite keeping busy with the new job, Jensen says he still has that itch to go out there and play from time to time.

"I think that as a competitor, you're always going to have that itch to go and want to keep doing what you did for so many years,” Jensen said. “But you know, it's a transition and I always talk about life is a bunch of chapters, and the chapter of football for me has closed and it's time for a new chapter.”

Jensen was a part of the CSU Pueblo team that helped build up the program to what it is now — a powerhouse contender year in and year out. He graduated just before the program won its first-ever national championship nearly a decade ago.

“I wasn’t part of that team, but I will definitely come down here to celebrate,” Jensen said. “It was something that I helped build with the other guys, the OG's [of] CSU Pueblo football. I'm sure they'll all be down here to come celebrate.”

After graduating from CSU Pueblo, Jensen had a successful career in the NFL.

He played from 2014-23 for the Baltimore Ravens and the Tampa Buccaneers. He won the Super Bowl with the Bucs and Tom Brady and was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2021. He was forced to call it quits due to a lingering knee injury that landed him on injured reserve at the beginning of last season.

Jensen is widely considered one of the best prospects to ever come out of CSU Pueblo, joining former ThunderWolves Morgan Fox and Mike Pennel as alumni and Super Bowl Champions.
