A Pueblo man killed in a July 25 crash involving a truck and a motorcycle on Interstate 25 was identified July 26 by the Pueblo County Coroner's Office.

Richard A. Ornelas, 65, was fatally injured in the collision on southbound I-25 near U.S. Highway 50, which police responded to around 1:21 p.m. Thursday.

Ornelas was taken to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.

The wreck shut down I-25 for more than two hours and the highway was reopened just before 4 p.m.

Police are investigating the crash as an accident and do not suspect alcohol or speed were factors.

Ornelas' next of kin has been notified, according to the coroner. His death marked the third fatal wreck involving a motorcycle in Pueblo County so far in 2024.
