UCHealth Parkview wins national achievement award

UCHealth Parkview has received national recognition for the hospital staffs' commitment to ensuring stroke and heart failure patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized guidelines.

The "Get With The Guidelines GoldPlus" awards for stroke quality and heart failure achievement recognize Parkview staff for taking efforts that result in "more lives saved and reduced disability," according to a press release. The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association guidelines help hospitals nationwide ensure patient care is aligned with the latest research- and evidence-based guidelines.

“UCHealth Parkview is committed to improving patient care by adhering to the latest treatment practices,” said Dr. James Caldwell, UCHealth Parkview chief medical officer. “Get With The Guidelines makes it easier for our teams to put proven knowledge and guidelines to work daily, which studies show can help patients recover better."

"The end goal is to ensure more people in Pueblo and southern Colorado can experience longer, healthier lives," Caldwell said.

Housing affordability is major concern among Coloradans

Nearly nine out of 10 respondents, or 89% of people responding to this year’s Colorado Health Foundation 2024 Pulse Poll , rated housing affordability as an extreme or very serious problem.

Concerns about housing affordability and the cost of living are higher than at any other time in the five-year history of the poll. Additionally, the persistent challenges tied to housing and daily living expenses are driving Coloradans' feelings and choices on tough issues like healthcare coverage, and their ability to create financial stability now and for the future.

“This year’s Pulse Poll results don’t just show that Coloradans perceive housing issues as a problem — they see them as a crisis,” said Dave Metz, Democratic pollster for Pulse and president of FM3 Research.
