    PCSO makes second arrest in child abuse case, victim remains in critical condition

    (PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Special Investigation detectives arrested a second suspect on Tuesday, June 11 in connection to a child abuse case.

    Detectives arrested 29-year-old Brittany Farmer for felony child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury and child abuse. Farmer has been booked into the Pueblo County Jail.

    The arrest was made in connection with the June 8 incident involving two children. A 3-year-old who remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries and a 14-year-old.

    On Saturday, June 8, deputies responded to a Pueblo West home to a report of an unresponsive 3-year-old child. Officers found the child and transported him to a local hospital. The 3-year-old was then transferred to a Colorado Springs hospital via flight. A 14-year-old who also had visible injuries was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released. The teen has been placed with the Department of Human Services.

    The children’s mother, 38-year-old Samantha Kimberly was also arrested on June 8 on felony child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury and child abuse. Kimberly remains in Pueblo County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

    “No child should have to experience what these two children have been through,” said Pueblo County Sheriff David J. Lucero. “My detectives will continue to work to ensure that those responsible for this heinous crime are held accountable.”

    Detectives have been actively investigating the case and obtained the warrant to arrest Farmer on June 11. Both women shared the Pueblo West home.
