NORFOLK, Va. — Those in Hampton Roads awake at the crack of dawn may have seen the skies light up Wednesday morning. The bright light was SpaceX's launch of its Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida at 4:55 a.m. According to the spacecraft manufacturer, the rocket carried 20 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit.

Fourth of July fireworks safety urged
With the Fourth of July just days away, officials from the Virginia Department of Fire Programs are reminding people about the importance of fireworks safety. There were eight fatal incidents involving fireworks in the nation last year, including one in Virginia. A total of about 9,700 injuries nationally also were attributed to fireworks incidents.
