Meghan Markle delivered some of her best fashion looks while visiting Colombia this weekend. First, she donned a stunning Metallic Tweed Maxi Dress by Johanna Ortiz, and on day four, she rocked a sleeveless top with a flattering sequined skirt . But my personal favorite? Her chic ensemble for day two—which proves the rule of thirds can upgrade any outfit.

On Friday, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, and Prince Harry , 39, attended a Training Session with Invictus Games Team Colombia, and for the occasion, she paired a Juan De Dios Martellato Midi Skirt with a silk white top from Giuliva Heritage. Rather than breaking her outfit into halves visually, the royal embraced the rule of thirds by tucking her top into a high-waist skirt. This way, the top third of her ensemble is white and the bottom two-thirds is olive green and white.

To complete the look, Markle wore Etana 50 Mules from Jimmy Choo, a golden watch and Ecksand ’s green emerald and pink sapphire diamond earrings.

Per fashion stylist Liz Teich , the rule of thirds draws attention away from the middle and emphasizes the waist, making the overall look more visually appealing.

PureWow Editor Abby Hepworth explains , "For many of us, the very middle of our bodies is our widest point, so dividing your outfit evenly between top and bottom doesn’t do much by way of giving our figures some shape. But by drawing the eye upward toward your natural waist (or down with some fabulous knee-high boots), you give yourself a more interesting silhouette."

It's worth noting that Markle also paid homage to Colombia with this look, opting for a skirt by Colombian designer Juan De Dios. But this wasn't the only time she followed the rule of thirds. During her visit to the Afro Women and Power Forum at the Municipal Theater, she donned a sleeveless white top, which was tucked into a Blair Sequinned Midi Skirt by Colombian designer Silvia Tcherass.

Markle and her husband were joined by Vice President Francia Márquez during their visit to the Center for Inclusive Rehabilitation, where they toured the training ground for Team Colombia and engaged with athletes. They also attended a panel discussion called “Afro-Descendant Women and Power: Voice of Equity,” which, according to their website , "spotlighted the achievements and challenges of Afro-Colombian women leaders and entrepreneurs."

Major kudos to Meghan Markle for stepping out in style.
