Princess Diana's Brother Posted Photo of the Late Royal on IG (and Something Instantly Stuck Out to Me)

Princess Diana ’s younger brother, Charles Spencer, doesn’t need a special occasion to celebrate the memory of his late sister.

This week, the British author, 60, took to Instagram to share a throwback photo featuring himself, Princess Diana and their late mother , Frances Shand Kydd.

The black-and-white photo shows a young Charles Spencer, who appears to be around three years old, sitting in a park swing while accompanied by his big sister Diana and their mom. Acknowledging when the photo was taken, the 9th Earl Spencer captioned the snap, “57 years ago today.”

But something about this photo instantly stuck out to me. And then it hit me: “I’ve seen this picture before.” Back in March, Charles Spencer posted the same pic on his personal Instagram page. In the caption, Spencer shared the story behind the photo, writing, “My mother, Diana and I, in c. 1967. I would have been 3, and Diana 5 or 6. I love how happy each of us looks.”

But that’s not all: The history buff went on to reveal the cheeky nickname he was given as a child: ‘Buzz’—because “she saw me as having the endless energy of a rather happy—and busy—bee.”

Meanwhile, in the comments section, one royal admirer marveled at the striking resemblance between Princess Diana and her granddaughter, Princess Charlotte , writing, “You can really see Princess Charlotte in Diana in this photo!!” Another follower chimed in and said, “Charlotte looks just like Diana here. Same face! Wow!”
