The Palace Posted 5 New Prince William Pics on Instagram—But I Noticed Something Strange About Every Comment

As a royal reporter, I'm constantly paying attention to the social media pages of Buckingham Palace (where King Charles and Queen Camilla often share news) and Kensington Palace (where Prince William and Princess Catherine post their updates). And one thing that always catches my eye for better or worse? The comments section.

Royal fans will fill the comments section of any royal IG post faster than you can say, "Keep calm and carry on." For the most part, this includes words of support. But there will also be those who inevitably use the comments to compare royals ( Harry and Will, Diana and Camilla, Meghan and Kate...). And then, obviously, there are always the haters (you do you, but...maybe find a different hobby?).

But I honestly cannot remember a time like this where every single comment is aligned—and about the same strange specific thing. Yesterday, Kensington Palace shared an Instagram post featuring five new photos of Prince William , 42, alongside two new videos.

Striking images? For sure. But those comments, y'all. Don't believe me? I'll let these actual comments speak for themselves:

"With all due respect Your Highness the prince of Wales you are just taking our breath away with this beard. pls keep it."

"William needs to keep the beard! Very dashing!"

"This beard definitely suits you and you looked extra handsome today."

"Checking the comments to make sure I'm not the only one liking the beard!"

"This beard is honestly his best look. Lucky Catherine."

"He looks so great and handsome with the beard."

    "The beard is bearding."

    ...Get the idea?

The comments were so focused on his beard that I almost didn't notice the actual purpose of the photos . The palace captioned the post, "Huge congratulations to the RAF Cranwell graduates on your Passing Out Parade! Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have led you to this proud moment. Good luck as you embark on your new journey."

Prince William was in attendance at the Sovereign’s Parade at the Royal Air Force College in Cranwell. He was there on behalf of his dad, King Charles III , 75, to celebrate forty-eight RAF Cadets who just completed their Commissioned Warrant Officers Course and Modular Initial Officer Training Course.

During the visit, one specific black-and-white image was snapped that was particularly breathtaking. Though it didn't make it onto IG, I can only image the comments...

I recently did a deep dive into why Prince William's new beard is so significant . But it was definitely a surprise to say the least when it first appeared earlier this year.

In early August, the future monarch and Princess Catherine shared a video on their joint Instagram account giving a special shoutout to Olympic Team GB (alongside none other than Snoop Dogg ). Naturally, my eyes were immediately drawn to Will's full-on scruff (and his surprising amount of visible chest hair).

That was over a month ago, so you'd think royal fans would be over the beard (or at least used to it) by now. Interestingly, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Am I personally a fan of the facial hair? That's for me to know (but let's just say I don't blame the royal commenters...).

I think he looks better without the beard.
