Ah, yes, trench coat season—my favorite time of the year. Trench coats are one of the most versatile outerwear staples there is. They come in a myriad of lengths, colors and fabrics—it’s all about finding the right one for you. And when that time comes you can try to style it with a pair of stunning boots and lean into your inner mob wife, like Ashley Graham does above. Honestly, the mob wife aesthetic is just fall fashion with an edgier twist and I’m here for it.
As someone who has trouble putting outfits together in a timely manner, I’m all for matching sets. They’re a godsend in a rush and one fashion trick I’m never letting go of. I adore the set above, as it’s the perfect post-summer, early-fall ensemble. There’s a bit of skin showing around the midriff and ankle areas, and follows the big, slim, skin principle , which happens to be the key to more flattering outfits. Thanks, FashionTok.
What’s not to love about a monochrome outfit? Like matching sets, they’re simple yet oh-so-effective. This year I’m partial to a monochrome fit in one of the top color trends for fall : dark gray. And make sure to take note of the cardigan as well. If you’re bustier, try buttoning your slim-fit cardi with one or two buttons. Trust me.

While I’m eager for fall to officially start, as an #EastCoaster, I know summer weather is not fully over. And until those breezy days are in full swing, transitional outfits are a must this time of year. This brings me to this casual number above, pairing your knitwear with lingerie. Wearing glorified undergarments in public can be a faux pas to some, but when styled correctly it can be incredibly chic and add enough spice to the right look. So, while the current weather is still a bit shy of 80 degrees, instead of a blouse or T-shirt under your cardigan, try a slip shirt.
Denim’s a year-round staple, so there’s no need to work around it as the weather cools. But what about layering it with more denim? I find denim on denim so chic, and this is one trend I will definitely give a go at this season. I’ve seen a few plus-size fashionistas try their hand at this sartorial choice and it’s a fashion A+ every time.
Maybe I’m speaking too soon, but I have yet to see a top that doesn’t work with a slip skirt —crochet cardigans included. If you’re not ready to part with the slinky midi you’ve been donning all summer, try pairing it with a cardigan. Plus-size fall fashion has never looked better.
Blazers aren’t just for the workplace, and I stand by that. With trends like ‘ office siren ’ and ‘ quiet luxury ’ at the helm of fashion for months, blazers are one of the it-pieces to keep for fall. I love the slightly oversize iteration above, paired with the cropped sweater and suede shorts. *Chef’s kiss.*
9. Instead of a Sweater Dress, Reach for a Knit Skirt

As a diehard fall fashion fanatic, I love a sweater dress as much as the next gal, but I also know they can get—whispers— boring . So to get over that bit of fatigue, I opt for a knit skirt instead, when I still want to be a little dressier, but I’m also not in the mood for pants. You can style knit skirts with similar knit tops or simple, long-sleeve blouses.
