Sofía Vergara Posts Rare Photos with Son for Pre-Emmy Awards Celebration

The 76th Annual Emmy Awards —which returns to its typical September timeline tonight following the strikes last year—is off to a raging start. Case in point: Sofía Vergara , who is nominated in the Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category for her role in the Netflix series Griselda , couldn’t wait to kick things off with what appears to be a celebratory dinner out on Saturday night with several members of her close circle including her son, Manolo.

Vergara shared pics to Instagram and captioned her first post, “Emmy weekend fun!!” plus a couple of heart emojis. It’s actually quite rare to catch a glimpse of the Modern Family actress alongside her son , who she had at the age of 19 when she was married to her high school sweetheart, Joe Gonzalez. (The pair divorced in 1993.)

Vergara recently shared with People how happy she is that she had Manolo—who turns 33 this month—when she was young: “It is great that I had him young because now I’m going to be 52, and he’s 32. I wish I was older sometimes, because I would’ve been more mature, more prepared to be a mother, but that was what I got and what happened. So I just kept going and try not to look back at it, because it is what it is. But it is fun because I kind of grew up together with my son.”

Judging by the pics she shared from their pre-Emmys dinner, Vergara certainly looks happy to have Manolo by her side.
