I think Katie Holmes just cracked the code for essential fall layering . Photographed taking a stroll through uptown Manhattan , the Dawson's Creek star wore a light sage green quilted shacket with slate gray accents and an added shearling collar in a bright fuchsia hue. The coat, an Italian-made number from Marfa Stance, is fully modular and 100% reversible. It's crafted from lightweight and water-repellent Japanese and Italian nylon and includes recycled, lightweight polyester padding. It also features robust bound seams for durability and longevity of the piece. The shacket has a cropped hem and rounded sleeves for a curved silhouette along with two massive front pockets. (You could probably slip Reese's new book club pick in there...)

The collar Holmes accessorized with is also a Marfa Stance piece. Available in 14 different color ways, the re-attachable collar is made from Italian merino shearling and lined with Polyester Japanese Grosgrain and is a super easy way to add some color into your wardrobe during the colder months. The brand, known for its modular and customizable reversible coats as well as collars, hoods and more, is an optimal choice for anyone looking to mix and match.

She paired the coat with denim wide-leg pants and a customizable L.L. Bean tote bag. Holmes opted for the signature white tote with red accents and even added her initials, KH, to the front.
