These five styles are every bit as chic, easy and versatile as you might hope, and will fit seamlessly into just about any wardrobe, so you can wear them with your other new trendy favorites, like tough moto boots and charm-laden burgundy totes . So, without further ado, let me introduce the top dress trends you’ll want to wear all fall long, through the end of the year and well into 2025, too.
Drop-waist dresses have been going strong for a while now, and I’m here to tell you it will still be a hot trend come 2025, making it a solid investment if you haven’t already done so. There are tons of different variations available out there to shop, with nearly every influencer under the sun sporting one or two on their feeds to give you lots of inspiration on how to style them. My professional tip for how to pull off this lengthening silhouette if you already have a long torso is to choose a looser fit (like the minidress pictured above) rather than a body-hugging one. A flowier cut can help create the illusion of more even proportions, especially if you opt for a shorter hemline that shows off your stems.
Boho is a trend that resurfaces every five to ten years, it seems, and now it’s back for another round in the spotlight, albeit with some distinctly modern twists. For 2024 it’s all about elevated styles rather than full Woodstock vibes. Lightweight, sheer materials in warm, earthy neutrals, delicate pinks and dainty florals; more subtle ruffle detailing as opposed to ruffled tiers; suede fringe accents on tailored jackets and structured handbags—these are the tenets of Boho 3.0.
Sheer fabrics can feel like an intimidating style, I know, but you don’t need to expose yourself entirely to embrace the trend. Layering a sheer chiffon tunic over a black slip dress or wearing an open-weave knit over matching bike shorts and a tank is every bit as fabulous as bolder, see-through maxis that show off your bra and panties. You can even opt for a midi that features sheer sleeves or has an extended sheet hem. Have fun embracing these peek-a-boo moments in whatever way feels most comfortable for you.
Earlier this year I called out double denim as a surprising Paris Fashion Week trend I did not see coming, and it seems the indigo influence has only expanded since then. Sleekly tailored denim dresses are definitely a hot commodity this fall, and luckily they’re just as easy to wear as your favorite jeans. My favorite versions have vertical seam details to elongate your silhouette, and midi lengths are easiest to style with boots, flats, sneakers and loafers.
A tried-and-true classic, the fit-and-flare cut will never really be out of style. (In fact, I’m willing to bet you already have at least one fit-and-flare dress hanging in your closet.) The curve-hugging top and flowy skirt are so comfortable and look great on every body type. A more gently flared skirt that skims the hips and falls straight down is the preferred silhouette for now, as opposed to skater skirts that go out much further from the body.
