I never thought I’d hear the words “Prince Harry” and “hang loose” in the same sentence. But as of today, anything is possible .

This week, the Duke of Sussex , 40, showed off his athletic side when he visited Kelly Slater's Surf Ranch in California, which has a man-made wave pool that’s designed for surfing.

Prince Harry took full advantage of the opportunity and hopped on a surfboard for an impressive ride that made me do a double take because, well, I had no idea he could surf.

Much to my delight, professional surfer Raimana Van Bastolaer documented the entire experience on his Instagram page. The video shows Prince Harry riding on the back of a jet ski and listening to instructions from Van Bastolaer, who tells the royal to jump on his board.

As the Duke of Sussex rides the wave, Van Bastolaer shouts words of encouragement, ranging from “love you brother” to “move your shoulder.” The caption read, “In Tahiti, we still call you Prince Harry but at surfranch, it’s my Brother. It was an honor to have you surf with me & @kellyslater @michaelanders_ at @kswaveco.”

Van Bastolaer also shared a photo on his Instagram Story, featuring Prince Harry surfing the barrel of a wave.

The caption read, “Pretty deep brother Harry [laughing emoji].”

It’s safe to say that Prince Harry is fully embracing the California lifestyle. Cowabunga!
