New Vikings CB Has Been Turning Heads Early
One of the big questions for the Minnesota Vikings this summer will be the cornerback room. Currently, Minnesota employs 10 cornerbacks on their roster, but it remains rather unclear how the depth chart will shake out when training camp ends in August. For now, though, one of the newest Vikings CBs has been turning heads throughout OTAs.
Vikings Starter is Supposed to See His Snap Count Decrease
Left up to Kevin O’Connell, Harrison Phillips would see his snaps decrease. The Vikings starter along the defensive line is coming off consecutive years where he has started all seventeen games. Most recently, Phillips snagged 839 snaps, the high-point for playing time in his six-year NFL career. His previous career high arrived with the Vikings, too, coming during the 2022 season when he snagged 694 snaps.
NFC North Round-Up: Ranking the WR Rooms for All 4 Teams
The NFC North is looking like one of the more competitive divisions in the NFL this year. Of course, we’ve already discussed the quarterback and running back positions for each team, but the wide receiver rooms look to be as star-studded as any other division in the league. Here is a ranking of the WR rooms for all four teams.
Purple Headlines of the Week: The Jefferson Deal, a Position Change for a Vikings Receiver, New Uniforms Revealed
OTAs continued to roll along for the Minnesota Vikings this week. With another week of the offseason behind us, we are continuing to inch closer to training camp, the preseason, and finally, the 2024 regular season. Here are all of the purple headlines that you may have missed over the past week.
Ranking the Vikings’ Jerseys for the 2024 Season
The Minnesota Vikings recently unveiled an awesome new uniform for the 2024 season. The all-white uniforms with purple letters and numbers are dubbed the “Winter Warrior” jerseys. The new look is sure to become a fan favorite instantly. This new uniform combination will join “The Vikings Classic,” from...
The Vikings Have a Pair of QB Certainties and a Pair of QB Mysteries
Prior to training camp, I’ll be working through a position-by-position roster projection. First up is a consideration of the game’s most important spot: quarterback. It’s safe to say that the Vikings have a pair of certainties and a pair of mysteries at QB. Free agent addition Sam Darnold isn’t going anywhere. He’s being paid $10 million and is being shoved in front of the media at press conferences. As of right now, Darnold is the QB1.
Exploring The Vikings’ Top Foursome for the Pass Rush
There’s 1:31 left in the 4th quarter and Detroit is trailing by a touchdown. Jared Goff is working without any timeouts left, so there’s understandable urgency to move the ball through the air with efficiency. How does Minnesota counter?. The Vikings’ top foursome in the pass rush will...
Why the Vikings Should Offer a Contract Extension to Camryn Bynum
The Minnesota Vikings saw a massive amount of roster turnover during this offseason. As a result of so much veteran talent heading elsewhere, the team needed to find new talent to fill in many positions on the roster. However, one spot that remained completely intact from last year is the safety position.
The Vikings’ Single Largest Cap Hit is a Bit Surprising and Discouraging
Lately, the conversation has been dominated by the Justin Jefferson extension. No doubt, that’s great news. Stepping back for a broader discussion of the Vikings’ finances may involve considering how the cap is being allocated in 2024. Minnesota is working through what is now the NFL’s 3rd largest dead money pile. A major reason why the total is so monstrous — $57,380,208 — is due to the leftover cap charge from Kirk Cousins’ deal.

Former Vikings Have Been Named Finalists for the College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025
The Minnesota Vikings have been the home of some of the greatest players in NFL history. Inevitably, this also means that many former Vikings also dominated the competition at the collegiate level. Last week, the College Football Hall of Fame revealed the finalists for this year’s ballot. On that ballot are a number of former Vikings players. Here is a look at a few of them.
Can Will Reichard Slay The Vikings Kicker Curse?
Just the term “kicker” is enough to send chills through any Vikings fan’s body. Vikings kickers are a long and cautionary tale about why trust is earned and not given, and like every other year it seems, Minnesota is taking another shot at bringing the age-old curse to an end.
Very Quietly, the Vikings’ Offseason Gets Past a Notable Date
Think Vikings football is far off? It may be closer than you think. If I’m not mistaken, Dustin Baker has mentioned something similar in his discussion of the Vikings’ offseason on Vikings Territory. The NFL season isn’t too far off. The season’s opening game — a TNF tilt between the Ravens and Chiefs on September 5th — is a mere 90 days away. Or, put differently, just three months. And what about the Vikings? Minnesota’s debut match takes place on Sunday, September 8th. That’s just 93 days away (shout out to Google for confirming the timeline).
The Tricky Part of a Camryn Bynum Extension
The checklist has seen its top item checked off. Justin Jefferson is sticking around for the long haul. The focus now shifts toward other players who could be looking for new deals. Recently, PurplePTSD‘s Josh Frey took on that precise topic, highlighting left tackle Christian Darrisaw, safety Camryn Bynum, and defensive tackle Harrison Phillips. The Bynum deal looks to be a tricky one.
Vikings GM Takes His Victory Lap after the Justin Jefferson Extension
This week got started with a bang in Minnesota Vikings world as Justin Jefferson inked a new four-year contract to remain with the team. The deal is worth a total of $140 million and makes Jefferson the highest-paid non-QB in the history of the NFL with an average annual value of $35 million. It didn’t get done without a little bit of drama, though, as rumors have swirled around the status of the wide receiver’s future with the Vikings for nearly a year.
The Vikings Offensive Line May not Be Resolved Based on Comments from the Head Coach
Last week, the Minnesota Vikings made the decision to re-sign Dalton Risner. When that happened, many assumed it would put an end to any questions regarding the Vikings offensive line in 2024 as Risner started 11 games at left guard for Minnesota during the 2023 season. However, it may not be as simple as folks initially thought regarding the left guard position.
Vikings’ New RB1 Lays Out the Issue in Brief Social Media Clip
True, the quarterback position presents some uncertainty, but the skill certainly doesn’t. The Vikings’ new RB1 laid out the problem in a brief clip that was shared by Minnesota’s official social media. “I’ve played with a number one receiver,” Aaron Jones explains, “and now being here with a number one receiver. And then two number ones if you ask me, three number ones, sorry let’s keep going. Throw T.J. [Hockenson] in there.”
The Dalton Risner Deal is Pretty Friendly for the Vikings
In the end, the cost wasn’t too high to bring the LG1 back. Ben Goessling of The Star Tribune came through with the details for the Dalton Risner deal. Per Goessling, these are the numbers: “Dalton Risner got a $1.41M base ($600K guaranteed), a $500K signing bonus and a $500K roster bonus from the #Vikings. Total of $2.41 million.”
Vikings Unveil New Uniforms for 2024 Season
The Minnesota Vikings’ purple jerseys arguably are one of the most iconic in sports. However, Minnesota, like many other teams, has decided to experiment with different color schemes and designs in recent years. On Thursday morning, the Vikings unveiled a new “Winter Warrior” jersey that will be used during the 2024 season.
Elite Vikings Tackle Duo Makes PFF Top 32 List
PFF is at it again with their top 32 rankings for every position group as we inch closer to the 2024 season, and this time, Zoltan Bunday (also ranked safeties) “tackles” the tackles. Sorry. The list begins as the safety list did; predictable. However, the Vikings tackles are...
