DANIELSON, Conn. (WTNH) — Two suspects were taken in on outstanding arrest warrants after a stolen dirt bike led police to them, Connecticut State Police officials say.

The incident started when troopers were requested to assist Putnam police with a stolen dirt bike investigation around 7 p.m. on Wednesday. They were told the owner of the dirt bike had a tracking device on it, leading them to the area of Knox Avenue.

A dirt bike matching the description of the stolen one was found in plain view of the driveway of a home on Knox Avenue when troopers arrived. They interacted with the homeowner- 52-year-old John Lane- who police said was not able to provide clear answers as to how the dirt bike- along with a second stolen dirt bike out of Putnam- ended up on his property.

During the investigation, troopers determined Lane had an active, extraditable arrest warrant out of Foster, Rhode Island.

He was charged with being a fugitive from justice and first-degree criminal trover, and held on a $15,000 bond.

While on scene, a trooper also recognized another man from prior police interactions and knew he had multiple outstanding arrest warrants.

Andrew Lowell, 33, was charged with six counts of failure to appear. He was held on a total $90,000 bond.

Both men were scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court on July 25.

The stolen dirt bikes were recovered by Putnam police.
