House Call: Vehicle Slams into Somers Home
SOMERS, N.Y. - On Aug. 14, Members of the Somers Volunteer Fire Department and EMS units raced to a home on Muscoot River Road after receiving reports that a car had crashed into a residence. At approximately 12:30 p.m., units arrived to find the vehicle had collided with the structure’s garage, and the driver was treated for non-life treating injuries and transported to a local hospital.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Further investigation revealed that the home is still under construction and was unoccupied at the time of the crash. There aren’t many things in life that are more rewarding than having a great time while supporting a local charity, but having a great time while supporting four amazing local charities is certainly one of them. With that in mind, I’m delighted to promote the 2nd annual Rockland Duck Derby, which will be held at 9:30am on Sunday, August 18th at Germonds Pool in West Nyack. The event centers around an aquatic race of up to 5000 rubber ducks vying to be the first to float across the length of Germonds Pool. The winning duck’s sponsor will take home a first prize of $1,000, with $750 going to the 2nd place winner and $500 for 3rd place. The real winners behind the scenes are the four local nonprofits that receive the proceeds from the fees to “adopt” a duck.
