Wine, a drag show and lavender cocktails? Here’s how Puyallup is celebrating Pride

Over 10 businesses in downtown Puyallup will offer Pride cocktails, mocktails, food specials and apparel from 5-10 p.m. Friday, July 26.
Event organizer Morgan Medeiros told The News Tribune that she wanted to show support for the LGBTQIA+ community. Medeiros owns MM Nutrition & Wellness, a local weight management and medical nutrition service.
“(LGBTQIA+ people) live everywhere. They deserve to be visible members of our community who are treated with the same respect and dignity as anyone else,” Medeiros said.
Here is a comprehensive list of businesses participating:
Perry’s Cocktail Bar at 105 S. Meridian, Suite A will have Love & Lavender cocktails. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Oasis Youth Center, a resource center in Tacoma for queer youth.
The Lazy Ballerina at 319 S. Meridian will have a drag show featuring drag queen Delyla Dalyte. The show will start at 8 p.m. Wine will be available all night.
The Coaster at 120 S. Meridian will have Pride cocktail flights. On Thursday, July 25, there will be Queeraoke starting at 7:30 p.m.
Giorgio’s Greek Cafe & Pizzeria at 328 S. Meridian will have Poseidon’s Pride cocktails and Pride Punch Italian sodas.
Meeker Mercantile at 109 W. Meeker will have Pride apparel for adults and children.
Nuestro Barrio Multicultural Shop at 116 S. Meridian will have Latin-inspired Pride apparel.
Lick Homemade Ice Cream at 105 Second St. SW will have rainbow scoops.
Catffeinated at 212 S. Meridian will have Pride merchandise for cats.
Trackside Pizza at 201 N. Meridian will have a Pride-day pizza buffet.
Crockett’s Public House at 118 E. Stewart Ave. will have special French toast as a “toast” to Pride.
Cascade Canine and Wash The Dog at 115 W. Meeker will have Pride specials and swag.

Puyallup Pride, a community-led LGBTQIA+ group, also has public events happening this weekend.
A cleanup day is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at Clark’s Creek Park South, 710 12th Ave. SW.
On Sunday, a 5K walk/run is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. and a community potluck is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Bradley Lake Park, 531 31st Ave. SE. Tacoma musician Kim Archer will be at the potluck.
Puyallup Pride member Pennie Saum told The News Tribune that this is the group’s third year hosting public Pride events. The group will raise money for the Oasis Youth Center at the events.
“Every year our events get a little bigger, a little louder,” Saum said.
