PWCS High School Students Explore College Life at the University of Virginia
The Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) College, Career, and Student Support Department, in partnership with the University of Virginia (UVA), organized a special event called “College Student for a Day.” This initiative provided an opportunity for 40 high school students from Charles J. Colgan Sr., C.D. Hylton, Forest Park, Freedom, and Patriot High Schools to experience a taste of college life.
🚌 Improvements to Student Transportation in PWCS
At the May 15 Prince William County School Board meeting, the PWCS Transportation Department will present the results of an independent study conducted to review and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of bus routes. Over the past two years, the school division has experienced many challenges with student transportation, listened to parent and staff feedback, and worked diligently to improve service. The goal is to increase on-time arrivals and continuously improve services to students, families, and staff.
KPWB in the Community
On May 8, KPWB completed the Irongate community park installation in Manassas with a generous grant from the Home Depot Foundation. Thanks to members of Home Depot Store #4607, and support from over 25 AWS volunteers to install park benches, collect litter, provide weeding, mulching, plant native species, and the installation of a new walkway through the garden. Without this support, KPWB would not have been able to accomplish such a project in the span of a few hours and along with the residents of Irongate.
Annual Report, Workforce Survey Rolled Out at Manassas Business Appreciation Breakfast
A huge thank you to all who came to The Salisbury Center for another fun and eventful Business Appreciation Breakfast!. This morning, about 150 businesses networked, heard from City leadership, and received timely insights on the economy from Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond Economist Joe Mengedoth. Beautification Project Completed in the Gainesville Magisterial District

A beautification project at five locations running along several sections of James Madison Highway, where it intersects with Interstate 66, is complete and the flowers are in bloom. As part of its mission to promote environmental stewardship in the Town of Dumfries, Keep Prince William Beautiful (KPWB) has partnered with the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC OmniRide) and the Town of Dumfries (Town) to facilitate the creation of, approve, and install public art and to provide litter control services to designated OMNIRIDE bus shelters throughout the Town (Project). The goal of this Project is to foster a unique sense of place in each community served. This Project will improve the community and ridership experience by providing dedicated and consistent litter removal and the installation of public artwork that contributes to the interest and aesthetic appeal of designated bus shelters across the Town.
