The Hylton Performing Arts Center Celebrates Success of 14th Anniversary Gala
The Hylton Performing Arts Center presented a special evening of festivities for its 14th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, April 27. The event welcomed over 220 guests and raised more than $157,000 in support for the Hylton Center’s artistic programming, Veterans and the Arts Initiative, and Education Initiative. 10% of net proceeds from the event will also fund the Hylton Center’s Endowment, ensuring excellence now and in the years to come.

The 7th and 10th US Congressional Districts will also be holding both a Republican and a Democratic Primary for U.S. House of Representatives on June 18.

Military Tribute Banners in Occoquan
There are still a few locations remaining in Occoquan for military tribute banners, which will be mounted in town from Memorial Day through Veterans Day. This program, which is a partnership between the town and VFW Post 7916, is in its seventh year in Occoquan. There is a distinct challenge in creating artistic works about real-life atrocities and tragedies that includes reverence, grief and authentic portrayal. Castaways Theatre undertook this challenge when putting on their performances of SHOAH, a production about the Holocaust based on the Lanzmann documentary of the same title. “Shoah” is another word for the Holocaust and means catastrophic upheaval. After intense work and moving performances of the production, Castaways Theatre prepares for more productions in 2024 and 2025.
