A young boy was playing on the sports field at the Y when he collapsed. The YMCA staff immediately called 911 and began administering CPR until paramedics arrived and the boy was transported to a local hospital.</p><blockquote><p>We were devastated to learn that, despite the best efforts of our staff and emergency responders, the young child passed away.</p></blockquote><p>They say paramedics were quick to respond and did all they could. Nathan and Stephanie Briggs described the almost-eight-year-old as always singing and dancing and added that he was very healthy. They say he was born with holes in his heart but they were repaired. An autopsy is planned to determine what caused his cardiac arrest.</p><h2>The Maine Community is Offering Condolences to the Boy's Family</h2><p>Thoughts and prayers were sent by the YMCA staff to the boys' family and friends after this tragic event.
