Are you ready for some frozen fun on the Mississippi this weekend?. Friends of Off Road Cycling (FORC) will be hosting their annual Frozen Fat Fondo Fest, this Saturday Jan 27! The festival will be held rain, shine, snow, or slime on the beautiful shores of the Mississippi River at the recently rebuilt Credit Island Lodge.
Rocky Students Named as Charles O. Austin Scholars
The board recognized 65 students who have maintained a 3.5 GPA or above for 6 semesters. At the Board of Education meeting on August 10, 65 Rock Island High School seniors were honored as Charles O. Austin Jr. Scholars. The students were presented with certificates of recognition for completing six semesters of study and earning a 3.5 GPA or higher.
Western Illinois Leathernecks Hit the Road for Southern Indiana, Morehead State
The Western Illinois men’s basketball team begins a four-game road stretch with a pair of games this week. The Leathernecks open the trip on Thursday, heading to Southern Indiana to take on the Screaming Eagles at 8 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPNU along with the normal ESPN+ online stream and Q98.1 FM radio/online audio broadcast.
Tari Fisk Named General Manager At Bettendorf’s Crawford Brew Works
Bettendorf, IA – Tari Fisk has been named General Manager at Crawford Brew Works. Tari started at the brewery in March 2023 as Event Coordinator. In this role she successfully ran all aspects of event rentals including sales, operations, customer relations, and coordination. In her new role, she will oversee hourly staff, taproom promotions, daily operations, events and more.
Davenport North High School Hosting Big Dance Show Choir Competition
Davenport North High School will host the 27th annual Big Dance Show Choir competition this Saturday, January 27th at North! Sixteen local and regional high school show choirs will compete, including representation from the states of Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) delivered a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives in support of making sure workers have the right to collectively bargain. “I’ve heard from so many working families across Central and Northwestern Illinois who feel that they’re left behind, like the government does not stand for them as they work paycheck to paycheck trying to do the right thing for themselves and their families,” Sorensen said in his remarks. “All the while, big corporations automate jobs and misclassify workers, all to save a quick buck while reporting record profits and forgetting whose labor got them to the positions of success in the first place.”
