Moline Public Library Eliminating Fees Starting Today
The Independence Day holiday ushers in an era of independence from fines at the Moline Public Library. Beginning Wednesday, July 5, the Library will stop fining for most overdue items. By eliminating late fees, the Moline Public Library joins a larger movement among libraries to ensure free, inclusive, and equitable service for everyone.

One Candidate to Interview July 11 for Western Illinois Institutional Research and Planning Director
One candidate will interview Tuesday, July 11 for the open director position in the Western Illinois University Institutional Research and Planning office. The candidate is Palmer College of Chiropractic Senior Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness Dustin C. Derby. He has held that position since July 2007. Derby has also served as the Human Subjects Protection Administrator at Palmer since 2017; the coordinator of Student Activities, Recruitment and Retention at Sauk Valley Community College from June 2002-04; and assistant director of student activities at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida from July 1997-January 2001. He also teaches Statistics, Research Methodology and Scholarly Writing at Palmer since 2009.
Night People Play Moline’s Stephens Square Park Outdoors Tonight
Summer Concerts take place in Stephens Square Park outside the East end of the Moline Township Activity Center. The bands play from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and you can get something to eat in the M.A.C. dining room from 5:00 pm until the food is gone. We will be serving brats, hot dogs, sloppy joe’s, chips, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverages. Once the music begins, we will be selling popcorn, soda, and bottled water outside in the park. Parking is available across 18th Street in the Moline Township parking lot (next to Amerifile), Bethany’s parking lot, the old Dispatch parking lot located at 1720 5th Ave, and any on street parking.

The annual bi-state Red, White and Boom in downtown Davenport and Rock Island returns this year on July 3, 2023!. Family-friendly activities will take place that evening in Davenport and Rock Island. At 9:30 p.m. fireworks will be shot, in sync to music broadcast on 97X, from two barges in the middle of the Mississippi River.
