Onion Joining Western Illinois Athletics as Assistant Athletic Director for Development
MACOMB/Moline, IL – Beginning Monday, July 24, Tayler Onion will join Western Illinois University Athletics as the assistant athletic director for development. Prior to coming to WIU, Onion had been the head of curriculum development for Game Plan in Tampa, FL, since January 2022. She has also served as an assistant director for Student-Athlete Enhancement for the University of South Florida from 2017-21; and the athletic academic advisor/DAWG coordinator for Southern Illinois University from 2016-17.

Project NOW Aiding People Affected By Building Collapse In Davenport
Project NOW is joining forces with other Illinois not-for-profits to aid those affected by the building collapse in Davenport. Project NOW will serve as a collection place for non-perishable food, new clothing, hygiene products, furniture, mattresses, etc. Items can be dropped at its 418 19th Avenue Rock Island location for the next month. Items can be dropped off between the hours of 7 am and 6 pm.
Muscatine County Energy District Is Organized
MUSCATINE – Climate is changing and demands for energy keep rising. Since October 2022, a group of local citizens have been meeting and planning for an organization to shine a light on a clean, bright future. Today they launched the Muscatine County Energy District, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the development of energy solutions specific to the needs of Muscatine County.
Illinois Congressman Sorensen Requests $120 Million for Transformational River Infrastructure Upgrades
Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) is requesting over $120 million in the upcoming federal budget for upgrades to antiquated locks on the Mississippi and Illinois rivers. “I’m proud to request funding for this transformational investment that will help sustain Illinois farmers and workers for generations to come,” said Sorensen. “Increasing efficiency on our state’s waterways will get goods to market faster, strengthen our region’s economy, and support jobs.”

Free Journaling Workshop to be held at the Bettendorf Public Library Tonight
The theme for this summer at the Bettendorf Public Library is “Find Your Voice.” On Tuesday, June 20th at 6:30 PM the Library is teaming up with NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley to offer a journaling workshop in expressing one’s voice in support of personal mental health. Journaling for Mental Health will be held at the Bettendorf Public Library located at 2950 Learning Campus Dr. in Bettendorf. The workshop for adults will be taught by author and publisher Jodie Toohey along with NAMI staff and offer tips and inspiration for journaling. Rock Island Summer Sports Camps Kicking Off
Attention all families with students entering 3-6th grade for the 2023-2024 school year. Sign-ups for the 2023 Rock Island Youth Football program are open. Equipment issue and practice begins in August. All students in those grade levels are welcome to sign up to participate in Flag Football (3/4 grade) and tackle football 5/6 grade.

The Quad City Botanical Center is excited to announce the exhibit Plants of the World: People Behind the Plants is now on display!. This new, unique exhibit honors the personal stories told by Quad Citizens from around the world who now call the Quad Cities their home. The Sun Garden is home to several different species of plants that can be found all over the world, some of which bring back fond and wonderful memories for the featured storytellers.
