Dignity Health California Hospital is seeking the public’s help in identifying an African American woman who was brought there at 1:10 p.m. July 3. She was initially found wandering in a store located at Magnolia Avenue and West Washington Boulevard in Los Angeles. She had no documentation or evidence of her identity with her.

A fire broke out in a commercial building complex in Norwalk, Los Angeles County, on Monday afternoon where firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department battled against the blaze. According to KTLA, the fire department was called to the scene just after 5 p.m. in the 14600 block of Carmenita Road. The conflagration caused heavy smoke and flames to erupt from the rear section of the warehouse complex, prompting firefighters to strategically take a defensive stance to prevent further spread to the business offices located at the front of the building.

Coastal consultant speaks up on sea level rise, local impact of state regulations
During a community forum last week, a longtime coastal planning consultant shared insight on sea level rise policies in the state and their local impact. During the Speak Up Newport’s monthly meeting on Wednesday (July 10), the featured speaker was Don Schmitz, president and principal planner of the land use consulting firm Schmitz & Associates. Schmitz represents a wide variety of clients, including the city of Newport Beach, for items that go before the California Coastal Commission. He also works as the consultant for Smart Coast California. He’s been involved with coastal planning and issues related to sea level rise for many years.
