CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — With Tropical Storm Debby approaching the Carolinas, safety measures are being taken to prevent as much damage as possible.
FEMA ASSISTANCE
After South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster declared a State of Emergency, President Joe Biden on Tuesday approved the emergency declaration and assistance, which most importantly ‘mobilizes FEMA with efforts and necessary equipment.’
Tuesday Outlook: Flood risks as rain from Debby moves in across the Carolinas The protective measures include 75% of federal funding and reimbursement and will cover:

- Allendale County
- Bamberg County
- Barnwell County
- Beaufort County
- Berkeley County
- Calhoun County
- Charleston County
- Chesterfield County
- Clarendon County
- Colleton County
- Darlington County
- Dillon County
- Dorchester County
- Edgefield County
- Fairfield County
- Florence County
- Georgetown County
- Hampton County
- Horry County
- Jasper County
- Kershaw County
- Lancaster County
- Lee County
- Lexington County
- McCormick County
- Marion County
- Marlboro County
- Newberry County
- Orangeburg County
- Richland County
- Saluda County
- Sumter County
- Williamsburg County
Federal assistance will also be provided to Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Chester, Greenville, Greenwood, Laurens, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg, Union, and York counties.
Meanwhile, in North Carolina, Attorney General Josh Stein has activated the price gouging law ensuring consumers are not taken advantage of by businesses.

If you live in the potential path, please monitor news and weather reports, prepare your emergency supplies, and notify my office if you see any price gouging.”
ALTERED SCHOOL SCHEDULES
So far, Chesterfield County is the only district tweaking its schedule with an early release at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and remote learning on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
CHARLOTTE AIRPORT IMPACT
Dozens of delays were already being reported at Charlotte Airport Tuesday morning with more than 100 delayed flights and 50-plus cancellations.
