CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Former Panthers tight end Greg Olsen announced a $92,000 gift Wednesday in support of congenital heart patients in the Carolinas.

It was the proceeds from the eighth annual HEARTest Yard Showmars 5K. The money will go toward helping the programs at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Heart Center.

“It’s always nice to come here and reconnect, what our purpose is, why we do all of this,” Olsen said at the event. “It’s really just those little babies, incredible doctors like Dr. Wallace. We saw first-hand what that means for our son, and we hope there are a lot of similar stories as a result.”

The heart center was launched in 2019 with a lead gift from Greg and Kara Olsen through their family foundation.

Their son TJ was born with a congenital heart defect and needed a transplant in 2021.
