CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — The Charlotte Hornets 2024-25 schedule features several long streaks – both home and away – and an early back-to-back against the reigning NBA champions.

In the first season under new head coach Charles Lee and vice president of basketball operations Jeff Peterson, the team tips off Oct. 23 in Houston. After two road games to start the season, the team makes its home debut Saturday, Oct. 26 against Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat.

Hornets to play two home games in preseason

On the first two days of November, the Hornets host the champion Boston Celtics — Lee’s former team — for back-to-back weekend games at the Spectrum Center. The pair don’t square off again until the final two games of the year, both in Boston.

Starting in late January, the Buzz will begin an eight-game home stand, the longest in franchise history. It begins with Portland coming to town Jan. 24 and ending with games against Milwaukee and San Antonio.

Contrasting that streak are two long road trips. The Hornets play seven of eight away from the Queen City from Jan. 3 to Jan. 17, including taking on both Los Angeles teams. Then they hit the road from Feb. 9 to Feb. 27 for eight more, with the All-Star break falling in the middle of the stretch.

The Hornets have six games scheduled for NBA TV, and the Jan. 17 contest at the Chicago Bulls is on ESPN.

While the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament is in town, the Hornets will have away games March 10, 12 and 14.

The Hornets’ slate features 19 weekend home games, including eight on Fridays, 10 on Saturdays and one on Sundays, and 15 sets of back-to-backs.

Some of the league’s biggest stars will make a Charlotte visit, including Stephen Curry and Warriors (March 3), LeBron James and the Lakers (Jan. 27), Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets (Feb. 1) and Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs (Feb. 7).

As previously announced, the Hornets will have two home games as part of the Emirates NBA Cup Group Play. The 22 teams that do not qualify for the Knockout Rounds will each play two regular-season games from Dec. 12-16.

The Hornets begin their five-game preseason slate on Oct. 6.
