Pedestrian struck and killed by vehicle in Gastonia: Police

GASTONIA, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday morning, the Gastonia Police Department announced.

Officers responded to calls regarding the incident on Bessemer City Road near Northwest Blvd. and I-85 around 6 a.m. A person was found suffering from injuries and was pronounced dead.

An initial investigation stated that the victim was a man in his 40s and was struck and killed by a vehicle. Other details have not yet been released and this is an active investigation.

No information has been given on the vehicle the man was struck by. Roads were closed until around 8:30 a.m. Friday, Gastonia Police said.
