    2024 Charlotte Pride Festival and Parade Guide: Road closures, performers and more

    CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Every year the Queen City holds its Charlotte Pride Festival and Parade in the heart of Uptown, drawing in record numbers.

    This year’s Pride Festival is from August 17-18. Saturday Festival hours are from noon to 11 p.m. and Sunday Festival Hours are from noon to 6 p.m.

    Charlotte’s pride parade will be on Sunday, Aug. 18, from 1-4 p.m. on N. Tryon Street. The parade will stop off at N. Tryon Street and 9th Street. It will run south on Tryon Street toward 4th Street. The parade emcee stage will be located at 4th and Tryon Streets.

    The parade will then disband on College Street between 4th and Trade Streets on Sunday.

    Charlotte Pride’s entertainment lineup will be between the Main Stage , the Community Stage , the Flourish area , the Charlotte Black Pride Stage , and the Charlotte Gaymers Network Stage .

    The Charlotte Pride Festival Zone will be along S. Tryon Street, with the Pride Parade taking place along N. Tryon Street. The event set-up commences on Friday, closing portions of S. Tryon.

    Charlotte Pride Week, Aug. 9-16 precedes the festival and parade weekend, offering a full week of community events in the Charlotte area.

    There is no designated parking for the festival. Folks are encouraged to use public transport, accessible transport, or ride-sharing services, organizers said.

    Public Transport

    Organizers said the best way to get rid of traffic concerns is to ride Charlotte’s public transportation into Uptown.  The map of the festival zone and parade route below highlights the closest LYNX blue line stops along College Street.

    Charlotte Pride held its first parade in 2013; in 2017, the Charlotte Pride Parade became the city’s largest annual parade, by the number of entrants and marchers.

    Charlotte Pride saw record numbers in 2023 with 260,000 festival weekend attendees, over 200 contingents in the parade, and over 10,000 people marching.

    Annual Pride events each year include the festival and parade, an interfaith service, and a variety of other social and community events leading up to the event.
