PINEVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A church was evacuated, and a road is closed following a gas leak in Pineville Wednesday afternoon.

According to Pineville town leaders, the leak occurred around 12:30 p.m. near South Charlotte Baptist Church on Dorman Road.

The church posted on social media that crews damaged a gas line beside the morular building, but they “were able to safely evacuate our staff and students” present for preschool.

As of 5 p.m., Dorman Road was still closed between Lancaster Highway and Muskerry Drive.

“Pray for the utility crews as they are diligently working to repair the leak!” the church said.
