    8-year-old girl injured in SW Charlotte accidental shooting: CMPD

    CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — An 8-year-old girl has been transported to the hospital with serious injuries following an accidental shooting at a southwest Charlotte hotel, police said.

    Officers with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police reported that the shooting occurred around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, in the 1500 block of West Arrowood Road, near Interstate 77.

    Authorities said three people were inside a unit at the WaterWalk extended-stay hotel when a gun went off, traveled through the hall, and struck a child in the lower back.

    Medic officials said the minor had life-threatening injuries.

    Charges are unknown at this time.
