    Missing-Endangered Alert: Woman with cognitive concerns missing from Statesville

    STATESVILLE, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A Missing-Endangered Alert has been issued after a woman in Statesville hasn’t been seen in a few days, according to Statesville Police and the North Carolina Center for Missing Persons.

    Matilda Jamelle Turner, 66, told staff at Fifth Street Ministries, located at 1421 Fifth Street, that she was headed to Virginia. According to their website , Fifth Street Ministries is an organization that seeks to provide basic needs to those who happen to be homeless or working poor.

    Ms. Turner was last seen leaving the non-profit. She has not been seen or heard from in several days.

    Ms. Turner is described as a black woman standing 5 feet, 5 inches, and weighing about 200 pounds. She has long black hair and brown eyes.

    It’s unclear what she was wearing when she disappeared, but Ms. Turner walks with a cane. Officials say she has been diagnosed with dementia and schizophrenia.
