Independence, Weddington emerge victorious in 2024 Keep Pounding HS Classic

CHARLOTTE ( CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE ) — High school football teams got to experience playing in an NFL stadium on Thursday.

The Keep Pounding High School Classic returned to Bank of America Stadium on August 22.

The first game saw the Independence Patriots and Myers Park Mustangs face off. Independence scored the first 24 points and allowed the next 21 from Myers Park before a late interception gave the Patriots a 24-21 win.

Soon after, the Providence Day Chargers took on the Weddington Warriors. In the later game, defending 4A state champion Weddington held off the winner of the last three independent championships in a low-scoring 13-7 win.
