(QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Did a meteor shoot across the North Carolina sky Thursday night?

Officials at Grandfather Mountain State Park said some of their cameras captured the phenomenon around 1:15 a.m. Friday morning in the North Carolina mountain region.

The videos are from the Grandfather Mountain Entrance Gatehouse looking south with the last viewpoint from the back of the Wilson Center for Nature Discovery looking west.

The American Meteor Society posted a photo of the event that was taken in Boone.

AMS said they received 138 reports of the phenomenon about a fireball over numerous states ranging from Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, VA, Virginia and West Virginia
