    Traffic delays expected in Rock Hill Saturday morning due to Duke Energy transformer delivery

    ROCK HILL, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Drivers in Rock Hill will likely see some traffic Saturday morning due to Duke Energy moving a large transformer to the Catawba Nuclear Station.

    According to the Rock Hill Police Department, the move will start at 8 a.m. at Winthrop University on Alumni Drive. The full route of the transformer from Winthrop to the station is:

    • Starts at Winthrop University on Alumni Drive (Rock Hill)
    • Left on S. Cherry Road (Rock Hill)
    • Right on S.C. 901/Heckle Boulevard; becomes Old York Road
    • Right on Hands Mill Highway/Highway 274 (Rock Hill/York)
    • Right on Concord Road (York)

    The move will cause traffic delays due to the “immense size” of the transformer, officials said. Law enforcement will be on the roads escorting the move at “low speeds.”
