CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — 20 pounds of marijuana was seized from a package from California to a residence in Lenoir, according to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office.

On Aug. 27, the I.C.E Unit found a package shipped from California on its way to a residence on Marked Trail Court.

Authorties found 20 pounds of marijuana inside, which prompted a search of its intended destination. At the residence, Narcotic Agents found four firearms, two more pounds of marijuana, and about 33 pounds of psilocybin edibles. Officials say the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

The drugs found during the investigation have a total street of $473,510.

This is one of the largest seizures in this county. These edibles are marketed specifically to our younger citizens as candy, however when ingested they can cause dangerous mind altering effects such as disorientation, depression, panic attacks and hallucinations. These are extremely dangerous to the community and I am pleased that these were kept off our streets. As the newly appointed Sheriff of Caldwell County, I will uphold the high standards of this office set by Sheriff Jones.
