BURKE COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A Burke County man is facing several charges related to narcotics possession and manufacturing, according to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.

On August 30, probation officers and investigators with the Sheriff’s Office searched 54-year-old Samuel “Sammy” Lee Yancey Jr.’s home after reports of something suspicious going on.

Authorities say they found “obvious signs” of manufacturing narcotics, including a blender that had a white powder residue that is believed to be fentanyl. Nine firearms and a significant amount of ammunition were seized from the home.

Both methamphetamine and fentanyl were reportedly found on Yancey. He is charged with the following:

    • Felony Manufacture of Controlled Substance Schedule II
    • Felony Possession Schedule II (Methamphetamine)
    • Felony Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place Controlled Substances

Yancey was held without bond over the weekend, but a judge later reduced his bond to $40,000 secured on September 1.
