ROCK HILL, S.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) —Trekeisha McMullen thinks about the moment she found out her baby sister was hit by a stray bullet and killed.

“I just screamed out, Alexis. And next thing you know, I was like, I could not breathe,” McMullen said.

It happened three years ago on May 10, 2021, but McMullen says it feels like yesterday.

“Our lives have changed. Do you know how many times I’ve had dreams about her? She comes to our dreams, and you wake up and it’s like it’s not real.. Her death anniversary, her birthday. We’re still struggling to this day,” she said.

Massey was the last of five children.

Authorities say she was standing outside of a home on Hagins and Getty Street during a party. That’s when police say she was shot by someone driving by in a black Nissan Versa.

Police say Massey had moved to Spartanburg to start her business, but she was visiting Rock Hill for Mother’s Day that year when the shooting happened.

Authorities believe it was gang-related but have yet to find the shooter.

“I know somebody out there knows something. But you know, the code, like when people in gangs, if you say something you’re a snitch. But I just feel like somebody out there knows something,” McMullen said.

In 2022, several local, state, and federal agencies created a task force to solve this case.

McMullen and her son Dacarian Jackson are wearing black shirts with a message for Massey and other victims of gun violence.

“No more silence, end gun violence, meaning, if you know something, please say something and stop the gun violence like it’s killing innocent people,” McMullen said.

Police are offering a 5 thousand dollar reward to help solve this case.

The family is holding an awareness vigil at the Sanctuary of Life Outreach Center in Rock Hill on Sunday. They are asking the community to wear black in honor of Massey.
