    Saints dominate, Panthers defeated in first season game, 47 to 10

    NEW ORLEANS, LA. ( CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE ) — The Panthers were defeated in their first season game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

    The Panthers were away for their first match of the season. The Saints dominated in the first half, no other way to say it. Both teams had six drives but the Panthers had 155 less total yards and seven fewer first downs. Let alone 27 less points.

    On the first drive of the game, New Orleans had a 59-yard touchdown pass to Rashid Shaheed, and later in the quarter had a 79-yard touchdown drive to Foster Moreau. On the Panthers’ first drive, Bryce Young threw an interception on the first play on a pass intended for Adam Thielen. The Panthers had only 36 yards of offense and were down 17-0 at the end of the first quarter.

    The Saints kept rolling in the second quarter with two field goals and a touchdown, one of those field goals was cashed in after a Jonathon Mingo fumble with six minutes left in the half. The Panthers were able to get the ball back with 1:18 left in the half, which Eddie Pineiro turned into three points from 43 yards away. The Panthers went into the locker room down 30-3.

    Saints return from halftime with a touchdown from Alvin Kamara and an extra point kick from Blake Grupe. Byrce followed up with a 3-yard touchdown with 5 left in the quarter and an extra point from Pineiro. The quarter ends 37-10.

    The final quarter was no different from the others. The Saints continued to dominate with another 39-yard field goal from Grupe at 13:08. Shortly after, Jamaal Williams rushed 14 yards for another touchdown.

    The Panthers attempted to make moves but fell short. The game ended 47-10.

    The Panthers return home for their next match against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, September 15, at 1 p.m. The Panthers will meet the Saints again on November 3.
