Tropical Storm Francine could bring showers, storms to NC this weekend

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — What a way to kick off a new week! Some delightful weather out there with cool mornings and pleasantly warm afternoons. We get another couple of days of this before some tropical moisture brings the return of shower and storm chances.

That tropical moisture will be coming from “Francine”, a tropical storm that developed Monday morning. Francine is in the Gulf of Mexico, and could become a stronger Category 2 hurricane by the time it makes landfall late Wednesday or early Thursday. As of now, landfall looks to happen along the Louisiana coastline. Storm Surge and Hurricane Warnings are already in effect.

After landfall, Francine will move north toward W. Tennessee and the Mississippi River channel. While far west of us here in the Carolinas, some of that moisture will still swing our way. Low rain chances begin late Thursday, with the highest chances of showers & storms coming Friday through Sunday.

Tonight : Clear and cool. Low 57.

Tuesday : Sunny and warm. High 85.
